As the automobile stereosystem works

Signals in the ranges of AM and FM are transmitted through the repeaters located around the city. The signals arriving from them are accepted by the car antenna. When to the antenna of the radio receiver the strong radio signal arrives, the modern audio system provides high-quality reproduction. However in certain cases the arriving signal, not strong and not accurate. It can be caused by distance from radio station, proximity to other radio stations or existence of structures, bridges or other big objects in your area.

Usually reception of signals in the range of AM is better, than signals in FM range. It occurs because radio waves in the range of AM are transmitted at low frequencies of broadcasting. Long, low-frequency radio waves can extend in the atmosphere as on a straight line, and to bend around curvature of the land surface. Moreover, they can bend around various objects and can provide the best radio covering. Thereof, accurate reception of signals in the range of AM can be carried out at long distances better, than reception of signals in FM range.

Radio waves in the range of FM are transmitted at high frequencies of broadcasting and cannot bend around the land surface. Thereof, radio waves in FM range generally begin to weaken at small distance from the transmitting station. Radio waves in the range of FM are stronger subject to influence of buildings, mountains or other objects. It can lead to reproduction deterioration, and you can take it for malfunction of the radio receiver. The following states are normal and do not indicate malfunction of the radio receiver:

– attenuation – with increase in distance of the car from the transferring antenna of radio station the power of a radio signal falls, and the sound begins to fade. It is in that case recommended to choose other station with stronger signal;

– the constant buzzing noise – a weak radio signal in the range of FM or large obstacles between a radio transmitter and the reception antenna of the car lead to emergence of a hindrance in the form of the constant buzzing noise. This effect can be reduced having reduced the level of adjustment of a timbre in the field of the top sound frequencies;

– mixing of signals – in process of weakening of a signal in FM range, can appear other stronger signal with a close frequency of broadcasting. It occurs during the work of system of control for the most accurate signal of the radio receiver. In this case switch to other station with stronger signal;

– interferential noise – hit on the antenna of the car of the radio signals received from various directions can lead to emergence of the constant buzzing noise. It can be caused by hit on the antenna of the car of a direct signal of radio station and the reflected signal of one station of broadcasting or two signals from the stations broadcasting at close frequencies. In this case switch to other station until these conditions disappear.
